Thallus superficial, to c. 0.6 mm thick, whitish grey to grey, glossy, smooth, areolate, verruculose to verrucose, epruinose. Epinecral layer to c. 40 µm thick. Algal layer continuous, well developed; calcium oxalate crystals sparse, scattered, large. Vegetative propagules not seen. Ascomata conspicuous, blackish, to c. 0.8 mm diam., ±rounded, perithecioid, solitary, immersed. Disc not visible from above. Pores minute, to c. 0.1 mm diam., ±rounded; inner and apical proper exciple visible from above, free, black, epruinose to slightly greyish-pruinose. Thalline rim margin thin, ±rounded, concolorous with and having the same surface features as the thallus, immersed. Proper exciple free, thick, blackish brown, non-amyloid. Hymenium 110–150 µm thick, not inspersed, moderately conglutinated; lateral paraphyses conspicuous, to c. 20 µm long. Epihymenium hyaline to pale brown, egranulose. Asci (2–) 4–8-spored. Ascospores broadly ellipsoidal, with ±rounded to subacute ends, brown, non-amyloid, 25–45 × 14–20 µm, with 7–10 × 1–3 locules; locules ±rounded to angular; septa thick, regular; ascospore wall thin to thick; endospore thick. Pycnidia not seen. CHEMISTRY: Thallus K– or K+ yellowish, C+ red, P–; containing lecanoric acid (major), diploschistesic acid (minor). |

Grows on siliceous soil in south-western W.A., in Eucalyptus and Acacia-Eucalyptus woodland at elevations of 300–400 m; endemic. | ||
